Terms of Use

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern access to Color Match at colormatchfinder.com, including color pages, conversion charts, search, matching tools, /catalog.json, and the Color Match API (together, the “Site”).
By using the Site you agree to these Terms, the Privacy Policy, and the Disclaimer. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.
What Color Match is
Color Match is a free, independent reference tool. You can look up a published paint name or code and see a digital swatch, or start from a color and see mathematically close names in the catalogs we list.
The Site is not a store, not a paint brand, and not an official conversion service of any manufacturer. We may add, remove, or change catalogs, matches, copy, or features at any time.
No affiliation; trademarks
Sherwin-Williams, Benjamin Moore, Behr, Valspar, PPG, Dunn-Edwards, Farrow & Ball, HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams, Glidden, and all other brand names, color names, and codes on the Site belong to their owners. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or a partner of those owners.
You may not use the Site, our name, or our layout in a way that suggests you or we are official, authorized, or approved by a paint brand. You may not copy brand assets from the Site and present them as your official fan deck.
Informational use only
HEX, RGB, Lab, LRV, undertone, families, FAQs, match percentages, and conversion charts are provided for general information. They are digital approximations. They are not a specification, formula, warranty, or professional advice. You must confirm color with a physical chip and a wall sample before painting. See the Disclaimer.
You assume all risk for purchases, labor, and design decisions made after using the Site.
License to use the Site
We grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access the Site for your personal or internal reference — for example to identify a color name, compare digital swatches, or build a mood board for a project you are working on.
You may not, except as allowed by mandatory law:
- scrape, harvest, or bulk-download the Site in a way that degrades service or is meant to recreate our catalog as a competing product;
- republish our match percentages, conversion charts, or generated LRV/undertone copy as if they were official brand data;
- remove notices, reverse engineer the Worker beyond what is needed for lawful interoperability, or bypass the API key;
- use the Site to send malware, overload infrastructure, or violate any law;
- use automated means to circumvent rate limits or security.
Reasonable indexing by public search engines is allowed. Linking to public pages on the Site is allowed.
API and catalog file
/catalog.json is published so the Site can search and match in the browser. The Color Match API (/api/v1 and /api/v1/match) requires a valid bearer key that we issue. We may suspend or rotate keys, change limits, or discontinue the API.
API results are subject to the same accuracy and trademark limits as the rest of the Site. Match percent is a convenience score derived from Delta E; it is not a quality grade or brand guarantee. Do not present API output as an official equivalent list.
If we have issued you a key, you must keep it secret, use it only for your own application, and stop using it if we revoke it.
Intellectual property in the Site itself
The Color Match name, original copy, layout, matching presentation, and software (excluding third-party brand names, color names, codes, and fan-deck data) are owned by the operator of the Site or used under license. Color data compiled from publicly available brand information is used as a catalog reference to identify commercially available paints. We do not claim ownership of third-party trademarks or official color names.
Your content and device features
Search terms, HEX values, and eyedropper samples you enter are used to operate the tool. Saved hearts live in your browser session only. Do not upload or submit unlawful material. There is no public posting feature on the Site.
Disclaimer of warranties
THE SITE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, QUIET ENJOYMENT, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT SWATCHES, CODES, MATCHES, OR LRV VALUES ARE ACCURATE, COMPLETE, OR SUITABLE FOR A PAINT JOB, OR THAT THE SITE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE.
Some places do not allow certain warranty exclusions. In those places, the exclusion applies only to the extent allowed.
Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE OPERATOR OF COLOR MATCH AND ITS HELPERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, LOST DATA, COST OF SUBSTITUTE PAINT, LABOR, OR REPAINTING, ARISING FROM THE SITE OR FROM RELIANCE ON A COLOR, CODE, OR MATCH, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SITE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US TO USE THE SITE IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM (WHICH IS ZERO IF THE SITE IS FREE TO YOU) OR (B) TWENTY-FIVE U.S. DOLLARS (US$25).
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded under applicable consumer-protection law, including, where they apply, Brazil’s Código de Defesa do Consumidor and similar rules in your place of residence.
Indemnity
If you use the Site in a way that breaks these Terms, misrepresents our matches as official brand conversions, or infringes a third party’s rights, you will defend and indemnify the operator of Color Match against claims, damages, and reasonable legal fees arising from that use, to the extent permitted by law.
Third-party services
The Site is delivered through Cloudflare and may load fonts from Bunny Fonts. Those providers have their own terms and privacy practices. We are not responsible for third-party websites we may link to, including brand or retailer sites.
Suspension
We may suspend or block access (including API keys) if we reasonably believe there is abuse, legal risk, or a threat to the Site or others.
Changes
We may update these Terms. The “Last updated” date will change. If you continue to use the Site after an update, the new Terms apply, except where a mandatory law says otherwise.
Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by applicable law without choosing a forum that would strip you of non-waivable consumer rights. If you are a consumer, you may bring a claim in a competent court in your place of residence where that right cannot be waived. Brazilian users keep the protections of the Código de Defesa do Consumidor and LGPD to the extent they apply. U.S. users keep non-waivable protections of U.S. federal and state consumer law.

Miscellaneous
If a provision is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. These Terms, the Privacy Policy, and the Disclaimer are the entire agreement between you and us about the Site. We may assign the Site to a successor operator. You may not assign these Terms. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver.
